Streetscape Design Plaza Design Lighting Design Landscape Plan Construction Documentation The intersection of Barrington's Main Street (Route 59) and Lake-Cook Road is one of the busiest traffic areas in Illinois. The businesses lining the streets along with the commuter rail station that is located nearby ensures a steady flow of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The Lannert Group was charged with redesigning a focal point plaza in an effort to unify the streetscape design, provide a pedestrian friendly meeting place and to create a landmark for the center of the downtown business district that could be used for community events. The new design incorporated coordinated site furnishings, light fixtutres, trash receptacles, benches, and paving patterns to carry the theme of the streetscape throughout the downtown area. The focal point of the design was a brick gazebo and a plaza area surrounded by an extensive landscape. The new gateway plaza provides a center for community events and gatherings as well as access to the commuter rail station. ![]() |
