When the St. Charles Park District acquired the Delnor Woods parcel, they called on The Lannert Group to prepare plans for a development grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The Lannert Group submitted the premise plat, site location map, site plan and preliminary cost estimates to secure the grant.

The protection of natural areas played an important role in the plans for Delnor Woods Park and securing the grant. Delnor Woods Park includes active play areas such as soccer fields and a playground as well as passive, more natural recreation areas with a gazebo and trails. The reconstruction of an earthen dam provides areas for recreational fishing and overlooks along the pond. Enhancing existing stream banks, and restoring the woodland and upland prairie areas further improves the natural environment.

The gazebo and playground create areas for both active and passive recreation.
