Willowgate is located on the Fox River
adjacent to a riverine wetland ecosystem. The Lannert Group prepared
the site plan, obtained the zoning approval, and prepared final landscape
plans. As a requirement of the plan, a park-like setting was imperative
for the residents to have access to the river. while maintaining
the natural features of the site. As part of the design solution,
an existing drainage channel was transformed into an active stream which
recirculates water into the retention ponds before entering the wetland
area and handles stormwater runoff from upstream areas during major
weather events. As part of the site amenities, a mulch path was built
throughout the wetland area and river edge so residents could enjoy this
unique feature. Another unique aspect of the development was to give
each homeowner the option to meet with he landscape architect to personalize
the landscape design of their individual entrance.
